26 May 2014, 07:56

Abuja - Prosper Achu, representing  Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River, on Sunday emerged the winner of the 2014 Cross River Most Beautiful Girl Beauty Pageant.

The beauty pageant was organised by Belle Sabel Grooming Agency in collaboration with Silverbird Group.

At the end of the event, which took place in Calabar, Achu defeated 17 other contestants to emerge as the winner.

Achu's reign is expected to last for one year.

She will also represent the state in the forthcoming Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Beauty Pageant in Bayelsa later in the year.

As part of her winners, she went home with a brand new car, won one-year free accommodation in Calabar Metropolis, a scholarship grant and a trip to the UK.

The organisers said she would raise funds for women and children programmes and projects in the state as well as support the fight against typhoid fever, malaria and other endemic diseases.
