Lagos - Hollywood actor Chinwetel Ejiofor , who was born in London to Nigerian parents, was allegedly advised to change his surname at the initial stage to avoid only being offered only African roles, reports Daily Post
The Nigerian born-British actor believes that his refusal to change his name is what has actually given him more opportunities.

In a recent interview he said that his name allowed him to work in Africa, in England and in the States.
The award winning actor has featured in a good number of movies including the Oscar winning 12 years A Slave, said although he had worked in the theater since he was 15 years old, he never imagined he’d make it as a film star.
