Abraham Attah wins 'Best Actor' at Spirit Awards

Lagos - Abraham Attah has won Best Actor at the Independent Spirits Award  for his role as Agu in the war film, Beasts of No Nation.

 The 15-year-old Ghanaian actor, beat out  Jason Segel, Ben Mendelsohn, Koudous Seihon, Christopher Abbott to win 'best actor' at the 2016 Independent Spirit Awards.

Winning the award for his first performance ever, the actor thanked his co-star Idris Elba, director of the film, Cary Fukunaga, and costume designers while receiving his award.

Earlier in the night, Elba brought the young actor up with him to share his best supporting male actor win. "I couldn't have done it without you," Elba said to Attah.

Attah made his acting debut in the Cary Fukunaga film as Agu, a young boy from an unnamed African country who saw his family slaughtered amid a suddenoutbreak of violence, and finds himself orphaned
