Hakeem Kae-Kazim to star in remake of Roots

Lagos - Nigerian born Hollywood actor, Hakeem Kae Kazim will be staring in the remake of  Alex Haley’s ‘Roots’ which is set for release in 2016, reports Nigerian Entertainment Today(NET)

Hakeem will be playing the role of Samson, a slave on the plantation who is saddled with the responsibility of teaching Kunta Kinte in the movie which delivers a portrayal of ancient American slavery. 

English actor Malachi Kirby, who is best remembered for ‘Gone too far’ will be playing the protagonist, Kunta Kinte while Rege-Jean Page will be appearing as Chicken George. 

Lawrence Fishburne will also be appearing in the production as Alex Haley, the author of the original story. 

The movie which is currently being shot in New Orleans and South Africa will be released in 2016.
