Lagos - Kenyan Hollywood star, Lupita Nyong’o is set to star in a Disney film titled The Queen of Katwe, reports EW
It is a biographical drama about a Ugandan chess prodigy.
The Disney movie is directed by Mira Nair and based on a book by Tim Crothers,whose rights were optioned and work began on the film in 2012.

The movie stars newcomer Madina Nalwanga as Phiona Mutsei, a young girl from the slums of Kampala who chases her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
In the movie, Lupita plays the role of Phiona’s mother, and British-Nigerian Hollywood actor David Oyelowo joins the cast to play a missionary who teaches chess to local kids.
According to reports the movie was largely shot in Uganda, and is set for release late in 2016.
