Lagos - Nollywood actor and Directors Guild of Nigeria(DGN) president, Fred Amata has declared that the proposed establishment of the Motion Picture Practitioners Council of Nigeria (MOPICON), which many entertainers have poured scorn on, is necessary, reports Nigerian Entertainment Today(NET).
In an interview Fred said that MOPICON is needed in order to regulate and protect the Nigerian movie industry.

He said that MOPICON will protect the film industry and improve generally the working conditions of practice in Nigeria, and also kicked against the jail terms on the original draft.
The DGN head said that MOPICON is a good opportunity for Nollywood to determine its future.
