Wedding trends come and go. This year, was a weird year in terms of wedding trends. Here are just a few of the more eccentric trends we’ve come across:
1. Funeral homes are becoming a hot new wedding venue destination
We kid you not.
In a bid to boost business, many funeral parlour owners are offering couples the opportunity to use their property as wedding venues. Don’t believe us?
Check out the interview with the couple who actually used their family-run funeral business venture as their wedding destination.
2. Bridal selfie sticks became a thing
Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, you name it, brides are posting pics straight from the aisle.
The Reem Acra bridal fall collection treated us to the visage of glittery ear muffs and bedazzled selfie sticks. We think it’s perfect for the bride who feels she needs more than just the photographer’s point of view.
3. Would you like some vegetables to go with that dress?
And then there’s this...
According to Jezebel, brides are moving away from the more traditional bouquets made up of flowers. Instead they are opting for arrangements, mainly consisting of... vegetables. Vegetables?!
In an interview mentioned in Jezebel, a florist makes mention of the fact that brides are loving foliage that’s infused with fruit and vegetables, claiming a driving need to match seasonal trends.
It can even double as a mid-ceremony snack.
