5 things to wear now (to make others believe you're super on trend)

05 July 2016, 08:41Marisa Crous

Instead of blindly buying fashion items, rather add one or more of these current fashion favourites to your look for some instant in-the-know appeal:

Dusty pink

My favourite trend at the moment is pink. Now, this came as quite a big surprise to me. Mainly because I have always cultivated a personal style with a clear aversion to anything “too typical” or gender-conforming.

But pink is having quite a moment, and I blame Solange Knowles.  Her fashion label Saint Heron has made me love anything resembling a marshmallow, a Fizzer, and yes, even the girl’s section in any kiddies store.

Bomber jackets

Whether you wear it big and oversized with a tee and a slip dress to create mad juxtaposition or opt for cropped with a pair of jeans, buying it one size too small, the bomber is back.

Keen on hiding your ankles for some reason? Flare pants.

Tiered dresses

You see it at weddings (granted, in cake form), Lucy wore one in Stealing Beauty and design genius Proenza Schouler loves this particular design aesthetic as he’s given us several similar creations in recent shows.

Be like Drew Barrymore in the ‘90s, minus the drugs that is.
