Couple tattoo rude word on 12-year-old girl

23 June 2014, 21:49

Abuja - A US couple was arrested after they tattooed a rude word onto the forearm of a 12-year-old girl who was staying over at their mobile home without her mom’s permission, according to the Titusville Herald.

"My mommy says it's fine... promise!"

The girl is alleged to have been visiting her friend when she asked if the adult couple would give her a tattoo, saying that her mother had said it would be okay for her to “get a small one”.

One of the adults then tattooed a smiley face onto the 12 year old’s forearm along with the word “bitch”.

The couple were both charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a minor after it turned out that neither one had called the girl’s mother to check up on the “tattoo permission” story, and that one of them had controlled the power supply while the other had operated the tattoo gun. The tattoo artist was also charged with tattooing and piercing a minor.

One of the adult suspects also turned out to be a registered sex offender who had previously failed to register his address when moving house.

This is why kids shouldn’t get tattoos

Presumably the girl in question thought it would be cool to get some ink, and that her choice of design would be both tough and funny. Unfortunately, it is illegal to tattoo a minor in the US, and this case helps to illustrate one of the reasons why.
