Mom bites off dog’s ear to save child

29 April 2014, 08:45

Abuja - Most parents would do almost anything to protect their children, and Chelsi Camp is no exception: The young mom saved her daughter’s life during a savage attack by a pit bull by going to extraordinary lengths, including biting off the animal’s ear, reported UPI.

Tiger mom bites back

She had been dog sitting the neighbour’s pet pit bull when the dog suddenly started biting her daughter’s face. Camp then shoved her fist in the dog’s mouth and screamed at her badly mauled daughter to turn over so she wouldn’t choke on her own blood. When the attack continued, she bit the dog’s ear off in an effort to end the violence.

She insists that she would have done the same to a person if that person who was trying to hurt her child. After being bitten during the tussle, Camp lost the use of her arms for a week and her daughter survived with stitches and will have scars on her face.

Unhappy ending

The dog was subsequently euthanised.

Camp’s theory is that the dog, which had sniffed her daughter prior to the attack, smelled her own dog on her daughter, prompting the mauling.
