This is a very inspiring story of one woman's need to embrace her natural hair, in an effort to empower her young daughter:
"I started growing my natural hair after finding out that I was pregnant with a baby girl. I knew that it was important for me that my baby girl grows up to love her natural hair.
Growing up my mother always relaxed my hair. I never felt beautiful with my natural hair. I understood that normal hair is 'relaxed hair'.
At the age of 31, I decided to grow my natural hair and cut off my relaxed hair. I told myself that I'm going to learn to love and embrace the hair that grows on my head.
It's been difficult, but things have turned around as I've learned how to take care of my hair. One year later and I love my hair and how versatile it is.
I believe that when my daughter grows up seeing her mom rocking and loving her own natural hair, she will do the same."
