Dating tips for single moms

11 October 2016, 08:44S Mbinya

Most men are afraid of dating single mothers. None of the bad-boy dating tricks has ever worked with just single parents. If you are tempted to think that dating single moms is not possible, you are wrong. Single mothers are capable of loving and appreciating a man. They need the compassion, love and romance from a man just like any other single lady.

Single moms, however, require a slightly different approach to dating and relationships. The moment you give birth to your first born, you realize how your child looks up to you with a lot of reverence. Your children view you as a demi-god who knows everything and is incapable of being wrong. This is what guys find scary when dating single moms. However, this should not scare you or be a reason for despair. The following are some of the dating tips for single mothers:

1. Do not be too harsh on yourself.

Give love a chance. Do not be too busy to show affection to a deserving man. Show men that you are more than a mom. In fact, nobody should tell you are a mom by just looking at you. You should be the one to tell him that you are a single mom, after he shows his devotion and commitment. However, show some respect for yourself, your kids and the man. Consider what is good for your children as well as yourself.

2. Show willingness to date.

Most single mothers preoccupy themselves with their kids so much that they do not find time to date. Do not forget that you have a heart that needs the tender care of a loving man. Attend social events. Show that you are ready to date but only to a deserving man. Interact and make male friends. However, take your time to learn the man. Do not give in until you are sure that he has no motive other than love. If you are lucky to meet a man who is worthy your company for a lifetime, then do not hesitate to accept the engagement ring. You too deserve to spend your life in a happy union.

3. Think of yourself like the girl you used to be.

Stop thinking yourself as a single mom all the time. Forget about the kids for a moment and allow yourself time to interact. Do not be tempted to keep talking about your kids. Talk about yourself. Talk about your future. Think about your goals. Ask yourself whether you would like to live alone for the rest of your life. How would you behave or think if you did not have kids? Be that girl you were when you met your first love. You will be surprised how this will boost your outlook and inspire you to attract the right man. Do not be tempted to date any man who shows up first; save your love for a worthy man. You deserve the best.
