Handling men and their demands

11 October 2016, 20:30Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi - You should not listen to all my advice.

Sometimes good advice is just a gentle way of saying this is what I want to do but you can choose to do it and see if it works. When it comes to men you can never actually win. There is just always something.

Like for example this past weekend; I think some man might have told me I am being desperate. I literally talked to the man only when he texted me or called me and then he was like,’ You have to give me an opportunity to miss you.’ So in my head I asked myself whether I was not meant to pick the calls, I never call the guy because he works odd hours and is usually in the middle of something. I left all our communication up to him.

In my head I just asked myself whether I should have avoided replying back then be coined as rude and playing hard to get. I was not understanding to be honest. Because I am always in the mood, I just replied, ‘Please don’t text me so that I can have nothing to reply to.’

And they say women are from some other planet, in my opinion, men always take the cake.

My advice; when it comes to dating, and relationships, do it at your own pace and choose what you are ready for. At times men can be o rude and I am not sure whether it is knowingly or unknowingly when they make some statements.

Don’t waste your time; if you want something more with this guy, know your place. A man will tell you, ‘but I never said we were exclusive’, while you were there relying on signals.

Signals are the worst because when it comes to dating, a man will have sex on the fifth month of dating and tell you, he is not going anywhere with it. This one is very dangerous because he knew buy that time, you were playing the 90-day rule and he decided to play along just saw he can have the last laugh.

If a man is constantly checking on you, do not be flattered. He might have been checking on two who had prompted him, then remembered you and said, ‘Oh, let me call her before I forget.’ He finishes call with you, with you feeling butterflies while he proceeds to his date.

Know your place with a man, if it is a group effort, don’t shy aware from that knowledge because at least you now have your eyes open. Don’t be clueless and be surprised with a wedding invitation or the pregnancy debacles.

Girl, don’t even get me started on those that try to judge your girlfriend skills before making the right type of effort on their end. If he is not trying you as he should from the get go don’t even try it. You will be wasting yourself. He has to do what a man needs to do before you step up- period!
