How to be a strong independent woman that men will appreciate

11 September 2016, 21:06Shakila Alivitsa

Abuja - Just be a strong independent woman for yourself.

Men don’t know what they want half the time they are asking for it.

One minute they say they want a woman that pays half the bills; the next you will hear your husband telling you to be a housewife.

Your boyfriend will tell you he does not like women who are argumentative (read as not submissive enough); next thing you know he is telling you- you do not know how to stand up for yourself because you don’t have time for his bickering relatives.

You will never win!

How to be independent? Don’t quit your job if you do not have savings especially if you are married with kids. Always have savings and money backed up somewhere. You do not want to be one of those when kicked out, they have nowhere to go and can barely feed their kids. You have heard of men that chase their wife and kids dead in the night, right?

Trust me on this one.

You want to be like making a phone call to book a room when he is trying to be hot headed and chasing you out; thinking you will beg. Don’t be that lady.

Things happen in marriage and relationships. I am not saying you go in hoping for the worst. I am telling you to be smart. Never allow yourself to be stranded.

There is a lady that is my mother’s friend and my mother finds her hilarious because when they go to the supermarket apparently she will never buy anything for the house. Nothing!

Apparently she will pick only lotion for herself or something she needs personally, but even a packet of milk? Nada- zilch! The man is the one that foots everything. Don’t hate her yet. I will tell you why.

She has a job but her money goes to her own personal account.

All her brothers and sisters passed away and left orphans; she helps care for some. There is one though that came to live with her and apparently her husband has lately been acting up because he does not want the orphan child around. Thing is, this woman never brings her problems to her man because he never wants to help. That is why her money is hers; she sorts out the orphans herself. Her man has gone to the extent of telling her not to even set foot in his new car as well as the child.

You would think she would be stranded. She is not! Since her man wants to act like a little b****, this is where her money comes in; it is what is sorting her out now.

Moral of the story; be independent!

Imagine a scenario where she would not have had a job and was completely depending on her husband. Like I have said, this things happen and marriages as well as relationships change.
