How to get over someone

05 October 2016, 07:33Shakila Alivitsa

Abuja - How to get over someone.

Re-focus your energies elsewhere

Before you met this person, you had other things going on. You might not remember if it is a break up from a long term relationship, but you had other things going on. You need to get back yo those things aggressively. Most of the time when we get into something new or while in a relationship we stop investing in what we used to do on our own but focus on what we can do together with this other person. This is why break ups are so very difficult. Re-invest in your hobbies and stop thinking about this person because it will make you want them or miss them more.

Stop wondering what you could/ can change

If they did not like you then they will not like you later. You cannot short change yourself for an individual. Some of the people we date are not meant for forever but just a lesson in relationships or life. If you are changing, change for you and not them.

Look for that friend you can do crazy things with

They will be crazy but as long as you are enjoying yourself that is the point. Not that friend who wants you to talk about it and be a shoulder. No, that will make you start reminiscing. The angle here is to forget. You forget by laughing and having a good time in totally unrelated situations.

Find something new that could be an interest

It’s just all in efforts to personal growth. Even if you do not follow through eventually, you have learnt something new and it takes your focus.

Work, work, work

But don’t make it a drag. This is when normally you are never motivated to do anything but evertime you think about this person, you pinch yourself by focusing more on work.
