What do men mean when they say they want an intelligent woman?

29 October 2016, 11:50Shakila Alivitsa

Abuja - As much as men think they are the ones confused by relationships, they have a better idea of it than most women actually do.

That is why most relationship advice is geared towards women and not men. From simple dating to sex and even marriage- she is always googling about what to do or what he means.

Most like smart women, others like them dumb so which is it?

Someone said he will choose looks and then they will work on intelligence- how? If someone is dumb they are just dumb in my opinion! Although an episode of Family Guy comes to mind when Peter decides his son needs to be better than him in future so he gets his dog to tutor him! Or maybe you can make her smart if you get her some books to read and she pays attention long enough.

Being intelligent does not mean book smart- let us eliminate that confusion. It does not mean you have degrees and PhDs and accolades all over the house.

The right type of intelligence is when you can put two and two together in any situation- not while you are stalking him. But, being street smart, you can hold a conversation long enough without lapsing to bags and shoes ad where you want to go because you heard so and so.

A guy wants to date someone he knows when he is not available he does not have to worry about the situation for example at home or with his kids. Or if he opens a business for you or you do so for yourself, you do not end up getting swindled out of it.

You can also handle yourself both when he is around and when he is not. If he invites you to the office party, you are not going to be an embarrassment. Some women demand to meet the boys and when they finally do, they become awkward. Or she wants to always come along but she cannot get it together when they start having a conversation. That is what they mean.

Does that mean you should not further your studies if that is what you want? No! I always advocate for women to do what they want if that is what pleases them, not for a man or because he said. Men always change their minds when it comes to the women they are seeing or with. You do not want to have regrets when it is all said and done.
