2014 Emerging Young Leaders Program

07 May 2014, 10:58

Having recognized the role of youths in shaping the future of Nigeria, Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) has organized a One-Day Youth Summit with the theme "The Power of Transformative Youth Leadership" with over 250 youths converged at the Multipurpose Hall of Government Secondary School (GSS) Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

The President/CEO of YiSHDA, Joseph Emmanuel Yaba in a chat disclosed that Transformative Leadership begins with self-transformation. It begins with changing how we see, hear and act on the challenges we face every day as Nigerians. Transformative Leadership is principled and focused. It is value-driven and it begins with young people. Joseph also added that through the Emerging Young Leaders Program YiSHDA will identify young men and women who will show great potential to be leaders of great influence in their families, communities and the nation at large. These young men and women will also have the opportunity to reach out and influence their world positively.

Ikenna Anyadike a Personality Development Coach with Connoisseur Consults as well as a Business Partner to Clarity4D UK in his presentation he emphasized that today's youth are going into a future where the population is projected to grow to survive, let alone succeed, youths must be prepared to build relationships and connect with others in their society. He also said that, youths need to learn and refine interpersonal skills while developing their character.

Also, in his presentation on I Choose to Lead, Victor Ogbonna said that Leadership is available to all of us.  It is a choice we make.  It doesn’t always come with a title or a big office but it is there. The more we learn about it, the more likely we are to make it a conscious part of our lives.
Certificates were issues to participants at the close of the summit and photograph sessions followed.
