The most populous black nation hasn't learnt his lesson over the ages. Every year half-baked graduates are churned out of various institutions of higher learning, but a large majority of who can't apply what they have acquired not to talk of solve real life problems. Our system of learning contributes a lot to the myriad of issues bedeviling the sector especially in Nigeria where I come from. Excessive focus on theoretical aspect rather than practical is a major stumbling block to academic excellence. Hence, graduates of Nigerian institutions only know theory and are obscurely terrible in practical aspect, this scourge has to stop, at least for the sake of generations yet unborn. The system encourages regurgitation of facts from books given to students instead of on innovations and inventions that promote true education. A change is needed as fast as possible to save the sector from total collapse.
