Command of Ebonyi State Police has apprehended a candidate gunning for the position of Ebonyi State House of Assembly to represent Afikpo South-East Constituency, Hon. Chidi Ejem and 36 others for allegedly killing of a thirty-six years old man Udu Emegha of Amaigbo Etiti Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Chidi Ejem was a former Special Adviser to Governor Martin Elechi on Solid Mineral Development, Petroleum Products, Pricing and Distribution. He resigned his position to contest the general election under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party,PDP.
Orient Daily learnt that Udu Emegha was killed during an attack unleashed on Labour Party supporters in the area.
Confirming the incident, Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Chris Anyanwu while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, said that the victim was attacked by miscreants at his house during which they beat him to coma.
Anyanwu disclosed that the victim later passed on after which a team of police operatives arrested one Emmanuel and his accomplices at the residence of Chidi Ejem who is vying for the position of House of Assembly.
''A group of hoodlums numbering up to twenty were led by one Emmanuel Innocent from Amaigbo Etiti Edda and the besieged the house of the deceased and attacked him, beating him to comma.

He added, ''Udu Emegha gave up the ghost. Later a team of police operatives rounded up the said Emmanuel and others in the house of one Chidi Ejem. Chidi , a candidate of House of Assembly and a thirty eight year old man’’.
''The exhibits recovered include; three cutlasses with blood stain, a single barrel gun and some expanded cartridges.
The state CID has just commenced investigation into the matter and the cause of this murder will be unraveled. We have in our net Chidi Ejem, Emmanuel Innocent and thirty five others. So far we have arrested thirty seven suspects in connection to the murder, Anyanwu disclosed.’’
