Chasing my dream

26 November 2013, 10:59 Jibunor George Chuks

Many at times we forget to know and realize what our dreams are! Not very much long when is only our parents that have the power and authorities to tell us what they feel we will become, and to this knowing that if you don't key to their “selfish wish” then you should get ready to leave school and be  disinherited because no one will give a dine on your head.

Due to that many ends up in the fields where they never wished they will be. Little attentions are just the few things they could offer in their fields because they have no interests in what they studied due to it was practically their ego parents idea. Their fields will be suffering without them caring about that because there is no joy and love for what they do! What a “selfish wish”.

Now, ASUU have done more harm to students than federal government has done. If a science student who chose to study engineering and that could not be able to know the reaction of hydrogen (H) plus oxygen(O) will form, i wonder, and yet is in 400level. Well, when the lecture involve with the course cannot do well by lecturing fine. Then the students ends up by reading so many textbooks in other to cover up before the tests or exams, but it usually helps because you reads for wider knowledge and for your own use. But to lazy students who don't even know what they want!

Then is an opportunity for them to flirt around. All parent wants their children to be an engineer, medical doctors and lawyers. No one wants their children to study courses related to Arts and commercials. In abroad parents tends to put eyes in what their children likes doing so that they can channel and prepare them in those fields. But in nigeria, reverse is the case because no parents want their children to be a musician or a footballer. But now, the trends have changed because they can now see light from those professions. What baffles me most is that for every engineering student you asked where he or she could like to work after graduation? Hear the answer, 90% of them is, i want to work in oil company! Hmmm, shame.

Must everybody that studied engineering work in an oil company? No. You see that we have many problems with the youths because no one wants to do anything on his/her own. Many graduates without public jobs cannot be able to settle on their own because their mind set was not fixed on what they can achieve on their own even to set up a business where they can employ people so as to reduce the problem of unemployment in the country, so sorry for them.

I thank news24 management for the giant step they took in having made this platform for us to be able to use our talents to achieve something and grow wider in it. If only other news house could follow this trend too to encourage and help other youths in discovering their talents in the very possible way they can. I share with the article that one of my fellow user colleague posted which title “Take good risk” it harms you not but when you fail, it makes you more stronger to look ahead.

When I see my articles been published, the joy i always feel by the comments of the publics, gives me more energy to write and to amend my errors in writing. It strengthens me, not minding how many articles I have sent which was rejected but all this are to make us towards perfecting what we do. If you can remember young golden eaglet player Iheanoacho who have turned into a super star now, he started from somewhere and look at him now.

Araon Ramsey of Arsenal club who many have write off but now look at him. Van Persie of Man united fc, with injury for the whole of his carrier in Arsenal Fc but just in one season he turned the whole world's attention to himself. I believe in what i can do for this great country Nigeria so as to help many who cannot make it on their own who are still fragile out there. If you believe or share in this dream why not start now, the year haven't ended yet! You can still achieve many or little. Little is never a crime because they say little drops of water makes a mighty ocean. I will be waiting to hear your success. God bless.
