Over the years now since the inception of democracy that ushered in the leadership of civilians as the heads of state, house of representatives, senates, local government chairman's, counselors and president of the country.
A common man could comfortably sit right in his or her living room and predict the results of elections. A body known as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which was led under Prof Maurice Iwu. In his time many nigerians was unhappy due to some facts well known to them, while some he was the best for them.
During that time many politicians do their campaigns buying gifts like generators, motor bikes, shirts, caps, two cups of rice and many more, all this only to get the votes of people. While later on, many could share money a day close to the election dates or early in the morning while people are still sleeping, all to get their votes.
Later he was dismissed and replaced by Prof Attahiru Jega who took over from him in 2011, his reputations was somehow rated by international countries and some nigerians while to some he was another failure. First election that he conducted was not totally convincing but many hoped that he could use Anambra State gubernatorial election on 16th of november 2013 to prove more convincing that he can be able to win the heart of nigerians in 2015, by conducting a free and fair elections.
But after seeing the outcome and dramas that was displayed on saturday, many are left with so many doubts now if the country's electoral system and team could be changed. Expecting much could now be understatement because the hopes of people have now been compromised with the poor outcome of saturday's election. If a state election can not be properly conducted within a day or two days, how many days or months or weeks can one now expect from the whole country's elections.? More questions to answer, but to who could this questions be directed to.
Many nigerians sits at home when elections is going on, when asked them! The response could be, no need to vote when after voting someone else will be declared winner. But with that its pointless to vote. Where is the conscience of people? After all this, one day we will all die. Can we have a rethink.
