Enjoy now: We are coming up later

16 January 2014, 15:18 Martin Beck Nworah

To our professional politicians,I reach out to you today. I have a message for you and I know you will be interested in reading it. Nigeria is rich enough to become a world power in all ramifications but that is not happening. You make plans and budget billions of naira for projects that are never executed. We thank you for the giant strides. You have bought over the media houses and filled them with your programmes and schemes,we thank you for working for us on the pages of newspapers and television. Before you went into government,we know you had one shop and managed to feed your family. By stroke of chance, you managed to stumble into one of our Nigerian godfathers and they sent you into the public office as their house boy. Over night, you built private hotels and institutions, bought doctorate degrees and kill our ear drums with your siren. No problem Sir,keep up the good work.

This is just to let you know that we are aware of what is going on in the polity. You may think we the youths are restive and are only interested in football and gossips. But we know what you're doing and we're taking stock. So continue to enjoy the now because we're coming up. You're amassing wealth for your generations yet unborn, while we can't afford the school fees of a state university. Continue,we are watching and making sure we keep records of your name for the day of reckoning. Continue to use us as thugs during your elections because you feel we're hopeless, jobless, aimless, visionless and lack foresight. We're happy you see us in this light because that has given us the opportunity to develop our potentials behind your back.

For our Nigerian professional politicians who don't have any other business safe for politics and political positions, we praise your doggedness. Continue to jump from one office to another,we will soon help you to jump into oblivion. We cry everyday but you don't hear us because according to you,if we can't afford bread, why not buy cake. We understand poverty and lack are alien words in your dictionary after you've won your elections. But don't worry,if you don't change soon,we will make you taste it(poverty) to the fullest...till you meet your creator. So for now, enjoy and make merry. Waste our resources and continue to bribe your way through. But as you do all these, just bear it at the back of your mind that we are coming for you. Till we get to the Promised Land,I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
