Group Lauds Otunba Subomi Balogun, FCMB

Lagos – Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun (CON), who founded First City Monument Bank (FCMB) exactly 30 years ago, has been conferred with the 'Gateway Business Ambassador' title, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Gateway Business Awards which took place on Friday 23rd August, 2013 at Olives Center, Abeokuta hosted representatives of the Executive Governors of South western States, prominent Nigerians and top government officials, in attendance.

The awards, according to the organizers, are aimed at celebrating outstanding Ogun State indigenes, businesses and institutions whose achievements are shaped lives and social welfare in domestic and international markets. It is also designed to celebrate their excellence and positive impacts within their industry as well as for their contributions towards the development of the nation.

Adelaja Adeleye, Head of SW Zone 2, FCMB who received the award on behalf of Otunba Balogun, thanked the organizers and the Government of Ogun State in a warming speech.

"Gateway Business Award initiative is one which our Group Chairman is immensely proud to be associated with. Having being nominated among several distinguished individuals, this is very special indeed. It is therefore with great honour and humility that I accept this illustrious award on behalf of a man we are proud to call father, mentor, guardian and leader; The Asiwaju of Ijebu Christians and a role model of entrepreneurial ingenuities in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and banking in Nigeria."

Over the last six months, Nigerians had nominated for the Gateway Business Awards, top individuals and achievers who have made immense contributions in Ogun State through pursuit of excellence, enterprise and exceptional leadership. Other Awards conferred at the ceremony include the “Gateway Platinum Award” and the “Gateway Post-humus Icons Award” which is bestowed to bring to memory, the innovative contributions of deceased citizens of Ogun State to the development of this Nation.

“If there is any advice that he would share, it’s that hard work and integrity pays. Through our collective efforts, we have a chance to rebuild lives and help transform communities”, Adeleye said.
