Former governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio has declared that given another opportunity as the governor of Akwa Ibom State, he would continue to transform the state.
Akpabio stated this while featuring on a live television program, shortly after plenary session in the National Assembly.
Akpabio who once again used the opportunity to declare his innocence on the allegation of mis management of public funds while presiding over affairs in the state said, " as a law abiding citizen, who did the best for our people, I bear no grudge against anybody who petitioned me because my visit to the EFCC afforded me the opportunity to clear my name and explained to them how government works. Infact, given another opportunity, I will continue to do my best for our people." Sponsoring politically motivated petition against me and my erstwhile government cannot in any way erase the life changing achievements we achieved in the state in the last eight years"

According to Akpabio, " when I read on the pages of newspapers that I had been arrested, I simply laughed because those who went to press with that kind of propaganda and falsehood were ignorant of what transpired. I visited the EFCC out of my own volition based on a letter of invitation they sent to me about a month ago, but the unfortunate accident I had prevented me from honoring the invitation. But when I overcame the trauma, I personally drove myself to their office and let me tell Nigerians, I was treated with respect because of my position as the opposition leader in the senate."
