Sitting at my desk this morning with little to do after having cleared my stockpile, I decided to ask myself several questions that I sure do know I have no answer to. Why do we work hard everyday? Why do we wake up very early and go to bed very late? Why do we hate each other and continue to live in hatred?
Alas, after all these struggles, is it not six-feet down the earth that will settle us all? Old and New PDP, are they not the same old people? ASUU and FG, are they not responsible family men and women who should prioritise the future of children first before 2015 elections? What if they all perish before the end of 2014? What is the fate of these young men who have been lured into all sorts of criminality because of the insensitivity and greed of a few individuals? Why do we kill people when we know we will still join them much later? For money rituals? But your off-springs will lavish the wealth because they don't know where or how it came about. Is it really worth it? All these strife and stubbornness, is it really worth it at the end of the day?
These politicians, does it make sense to amass so much wealth and die at 70 or 80 leaving everything behind? I know we must work hard to survive and live a balanced life;but when we close our eyes to sleep in the night, are we assured that we will certainly wake up to that heavy bank account? Ladies do everything to get married, buy gadgets, certificates, jobs and anything else, but after sipping my glass of water, I cannot but ask; is this the reason why we were brought into this life? To rape others? To robe people of their hard earned money and integrity? To rubbish a young lady because she refused to succumb to your advances? And I ask you;is it worth it? The effort you're putting in to deny people of the scores they deserve, the job they rightly deserve, the man God destined for them who you turned away with your charms, is it really really worth it?
Young man, your parents continue to beg you to take things easy. Stop smoking, stop gambling, face your business or studies so that you'll succeed. But you continue to bark at them, you feel they're disturbing you, that they don't know what's up. And tomorrow, they die and leave you, only then will you cry and realise your mistakes...but was it really worth it? Did it worth your foolishness and stupidity when they advised you? Save for the future, don't waste your little wealth now, plan hard and dedicate things to God in prayers, but you won't. You feel you don't need God or even your parents or anybody...and then your stupid friends will put you in a tight corner...only then will you cry out;was my stupidity worth it?
Young girl, sweet thighs and tight breast. You're the hot cake every guy and old man wants in his bed and you're ready to deliver with a few naira or dollar notes. Let me close my eyes and ask you; have you seen a skeleton before? Don't you think the money you need today may sell your integrity tomorrow? Awh, sorry about that, I forgot you don't have any integrity left. But is it worth it? Is it worth the stress that in your prime you never paid attention, now you want God to give you something you took away from other married men...is it fair? Is it worth your vigils and prayers?
Parents and adults, you're the reason we are suffering in this world. Who kill? Who steals our crude oil revenue? Who shuts down the education sector? Who bags educational awards abroad while students are crying endlessly? Who's the terrorist? Who cheats his fellow business man? Who deceives his children? Who makes his brother's family to fall because they're better than his? Who are the reason for all the calamities in this world? You already know the answer. But I want to ask you, is it worth it?
As I resume at my desk to continue my sleep, I pray we find answers to these questions. And if you happen to see my boss, ask him is it worth it that we work every five days with little or no break, is it worth it? So let me sleep and try answering some of the questions. Till we get to the Promised Land, I will be waiting for when you'll pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
