Since I heard that our president said stealing is not corruption, I have been thinking about it. Stealing is taking away something from someone or people without their permission and with the intention of not returning it, while corruption is dishonesty and illegal behavior by people irrespective of their social status, including those in position of authority or power.
If that is a correct definition, therefore, stealing is dishonest and illegal. Corruption is anything immoral. Whatever is not done rightly or righteously is a corrupt practice. For instance, Bankole was jailed for corruption in government because he did administrative financial malpractice, and that is stealing though a government officer. I think whatever is done wrongly is corrupt because, the act is corruptible.
Corruption is evil, wrong, and is an unrighteous intention. Stealing is borne out of a corrupt mind because, the intention is to take it without being permitted, unnoticed, forcefully and to own it instead of the owner. You dispossesses the owner of his/her right. That is corruption. Corrupt people in the society or government generally dispossesses people and or the general public of what is supposed to be their general benefit. If there is any difference between stealing and corruption, it only a matter of the way the society now value issues. Stealing privately and stealing officially are all the same. And I think all kinds of illegal behavior are corrupt and dishonest. They are therefore known as corruption. When people begin to classify stealing from corruption in order to justify their official misbehavior, it shows how decayed the society has become. And for a president to say that openly, it proves the bad legacy our leaders exhibiting
