“Live, work in Andoni”

The Executive Chairman of Andoni Local Government Council Hon. Benson Imie has charged the newly elected members of the Andoni Legislative Assembly and new appointees of the Council to be diligent to duty and ensure that they are accessible to the people whom they are elected to serve.

The Chairman who gave the charge while inaugurating the Sixth Andoni Legislative Assembly at the Hallowed Chambers of the Assembly Complex in Ngo Town, expressed confidence in the crop of the present assembly as according to him, he believed they will not let the people down.

Hon. Imie charged the Councilors and the new appointees to see themselves not as masters but as servants of the people whom they promised to serve while they were campaigning for votes, adding that he expects them to work together with him to instil peace and better security in the area.

He said it is part of his vision to continue the linking of the area the national electricity supply, ensure regular payments of bursary to students of Andoni origin, and improve on the medical facility and health of the people.

The Chairman who also witnessed the first business of the house saw the election of Hon. Joseph Gibson representing Ward 7 as the Leader of the Legislative Assembly and Hon. Emmanuel David (Ward 4) as Deputy Leader, while Hon. Zilpah Eneotu (Ward 3) is elected as Chief Whip.

Earlier Ms. Peace Thompson was sworn-in as Vice chairman while Barr. Steve Gad and Mr. Hycinth Elijah Elebe also took oath of office as Secretary and Chief of Staff respectively.

The Council boss also used the medium to dissolve all standing appointments and committees while approving with immediate effect the appointments of Chief Zebulon Elebe as Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Mr. Calixtus Oke as Press Secretary to Council.

Highpoint of the event was the official hand-over of the leadership of the Council to Hon. Benson Imie by the immediate past Care-taker-Committee headed by Hon. Esuku M. Esuku.

Some dignitaries who graced the event include the Chairman of Andoni Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Jerry Ebelo, Senior Magistrate C.G. Ali and some principal staff of the Council.
