One simple thing that life requires is truthfulness. Any person who cannot tell himself truth is counted as worst fool among mediocrities. Men can be very pretentious about life. But it becomes something else when they fail to tell themselves truth. People like these always feel it in their bones that they are fools. It is well established in their subconscious no matter what. They know all their evils and wrongs and can never deny them because even worst souls among men have conscience.
Intuition tells it to them everyday that they are not doing well, and it also appears once in a while as handwriting on the wall just like it once happened to King Belshazzar in Bible. They know that their lives are filled with evil and that they are already found wanting in God's balances. There is no student who can stand to say he or she does not know that mediocre-graduates are bound to fail woefully in contemporary labor market. All the same, downright fools are everywhere, and many among them do not seem to know what it means to lead a balance life before God and man.
Onyema happened to be one among big fools who wasted away as student on campus. He graduated in 1996 and went into labor market like an empty-headed fool who did not know what mediocrity was. His flamboyant life on campus did not allow him to see himself as a quack. He led a famous life as university student. But he could not perceive that his popularity was for nothing. It was few years after graduation that it really got dawn on him.
Onyama spent all his life as student on campus living in make-believe. He thought that life was all about getting known to people and being highly connected to influential figures in society. He took it upon himself to make name on campus. But he did not realize that every name remains empty like nothing when sound education is not added to it. Life was both large and admirable for him throughout. Everybody knew him, and his friends were many. He led like a lord without knowing that he was wasting away. Most of his precious times were spent in trivial commitments, and he could not perceive that he was only chasing shadows. All the serious attentions he gave to both political and social activities on campus happened to choke his academic life to death. He lived like manly man in pretence, and little did he realize it until it was too late.
He graduated from university and eventually became a complete fool in contemporary labor market. Although his hopes were actually met because help came knocking at his door severally just like he really expected them those days. Influential and eminent personalities offered him opportunities just like he dreamt to have. But all the helps and supports proved abortive since he did not know his onions. It later became very clear to him that his too much commitment in social activities at school did not do him any good. They only made to look lofty since they did not give him time to prepare adequately in order to become nobody's fool.
Onyema graduated as an accountant and got opportunities to work in big establishments. But as a downright mediocrity, he kept failing and loosing the opportunities. He was given good chances severally to practice his profession in great companies. He got the chances from influential figures that he knew in Rotary Club, Lions Club and the likes. They all tried their best to help him. But all the helps failed because skill was not there for him to become productive in labor market.
