Mindset reorientation: panacea for positive change.

25 September 2014, 11:15 Ofem Friday

The human brain (or mind) can be likened to a lump of mixed yet unbaked flour. In that, the harder the impression the deeper the experience. For instance, if the baker decides to press deep his finger on to the substance in his hands, the deeper the hole that would be created on the substance and this also apply if he decides not to press hard, the hole on the substance becomes shallow and thus, less impression.

What this means is that, the more good impression are pressed deep in to one’s mind the more the ability of the person to experience the effect of such effort. Which is why, the scripture stated clearly; train a child (mind) properly, so that when he grows, he will not leave it, (Proverbs 22:6). The lines below delineates on this.

Deep look at concepts

The term mindset denotes a way of thinking, a way of doing things and patterns of reasoning- this could be individual or corporate. Hence, it is in the way one thinks (or expresses his thoughts), that is how, he would be addressed by his creator (Proverbs 23:7a).

Reorientation is basically a process of changing the direction of a mindset- thinking in this case, from what is formally not positive to a more positive direction. For this, I suggest, is what our Nation is in dire need of.

Positive change connotes a situation whereby one adjusts his thinking, actions, reasoning, beliefs, ideas, and thoughts, to the direction that brings value to all parties. It is a shift from the present level of thinking to a more value and outcome oriented area.

Why we all need the booster- M.R. (Mindset Reorientation)

Today, we are in days where independence of thought reigns supreme. And so, whatever one thinks, s/he goes ahead to have it implemented whether through hook or crook. If they are asked; such response as “God understand” is given.

Consequently, this style of thinking has made our Nation and the society at large to be at the brink of collapse (moral structures are collapsing by the day. Introduction of such unnatural acts; as homosexuality, guy pride, feminism, environmentalism, piercing-new style of tattooing etc). Although, we are in the last days as the scripture predicted and we are expected to see all these occurrences. The truth is that, we need to have Mindset Reorientation. For it is in doing so, that the much desired change would come.

For the scripture says (In 2 Chronicle 7:14), if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their, evil ways…,(thinking along righteousness). God is only ready to work with people who have their mindset changed to a positive direction always (i.e. Reoriented). That is when He will hear from His throne and forgive and heal the Land. Not only the Land, also, diseases, sicknesses, illnesses and ailments that are alien to us.

Another reason our Nation needs M.R. (Mindset Reorientation), is because, God gave it as injunction to be obeyed. How? Romans 12:2 answered it…but be transformed by the renewing of the your mind (thinking aright always)…. God desires good for all. Therefore, whatever we are witnessing in our Nation is the outcome of what individuals think and act. And so, the onus is on us to think aright in order to change our Nation for good and righteousness.

Could it be that M.R. is the Pivot for positive change?

YES! I established elsewhere that, what we are witnessing today in our Nation is the outcome of thoughts- for the Bibile say “as a man thinks, so he is”. If we think backward our actions will be same. If we think corruption, war, impossibility and the like, the outcome will as well reflect our thoughts. Hence, Mindset Reorientation is a process that seeks to sift the MIND of all wicked and wrong thoughts and making it function with air of freshness and piety. Everything is possible to him that believes (thinks). A righteous and peaceful Nation is possible only if we begin to think so. But, for this to be so, the old thought process must be done away with, no matter how lofty there may seem. The way M.R. works is that; start by being discontent with the former style of thinking and call to the scripture and Holy Spirit for guidance on how to think aright- and you are good to start.

Can it be said that positive change is attainable

Also YES!!! Between 931-910 BC a prophet named Jonah (meaning ‘DOVE’), was sent to cry (against it) to the people of NINEVEH, Jonah 1:1-2. For at that time they were thinking in a wrong way; worshiping the god ‘ashur’ (meaning ‘POWER’), so when they were preached to, by Jonah, they had a MINDSET REORIENTATION (M.R.), and they repented from their evil ways. And God forgave them- at that point, positive change was attained, for they forsook their wrong ways of thinking (evil ways), and become positive in thinking (Righteousness; Proverbs 14:34). It may interest you to know that NINEVEH still exit today in North Eastern IRAQ, and its one of the places Christians settled; the name is MOSUL.

In Nigeria, we can as well have the positive change we so earnestly desire- if we hear what God is saying. By forsaking all forms of evil, and refusing to support whether in cash or in kind any forms or programs of wickedness. And returning fully to God. Positive change is attainable in Governance, Christianity, Economy, Entertainment, Industry, and Family, only if we begin and continue to have positive Mindset Reorientation (M.R.).

Today, in our Nation, money is seen to be everything (ultra-mammonism). Money has become a god worshiped by people, as did the people of NINEVEH (who worshiped ‘ashur’). This then calls for a re-thinking and re-consideration of our ways if we need peace and righteousness to reign supreme in our Country. We need to have a positive MINDSET REORIENTATION for it is a panacea for the peace and righteousness that we are in dire need of.
