NSCDC calls for collaboration among security agencies

14 October 2014, 12:36 John E. Gabriel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has emphasized on the need for a more robust synergy and intelligence sharing among all security agencies in the country.

National Public Relations Officer of the corps, Mr. Emmanuel Okey stated yesterday that such cooperation would assist in addressing the security challenges in the country.

According to him, it became imperative for all security agencies in the country to intensify collaboration which will eventually bring to rest the issue of terrorist in the country.

He said, “It is very important for us as security agencies to collaborate more so that we can will the war against terrorism and insurgency in the country.”

He further stated that NSCDC was working closely with the police and other security agencies in order to ensure a more robust and harmonious working relationship adding that there was a need for community policing, intelligence gathering, training and re-training of security personnel and adequate funding in order to end security challenges in the country.

“The war on terrorism cannot be won just with arms and ammunition, we must evolve a robust frame work for intelligence,” he said.

He expressed optimism that with the renewed cooperation among the security agencies, the war on terrorism would soon be a thing of the past.

It would be recalled that recently, the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ade Abolurin was reported to have narrowly escaped assassination by police inspector who claimed that the area visited by the NSCDC is their territory and no going area for any other security agency.  The CG was reported to have chaired a committee on assessment tour of the area which has been subjected to vandalisation over a period of time.
