The major mountain in the wilderness of Nigeria's journey to the Promised land is the idea of theoretical-ism over practical-ism. Nigerians are crystal clear rich in workable knowledge in different departments of life but everything keeps ending up as mere head knowledge with no practicals to set foundations and grow. This has been partly responsible for the advancement in the alarming rate of unemployment in Nigeria. Year in and out, the Nigerian higher citadels of learning produce for instance, graduates in Environmental Biology & Fisheries, Agric Engineering, Animal Husbandry & Fishery and the likes yet, we cannot meet up with 20% demand for meat, fish and agricultural products in Nigeria when their importation was partially restricted by the FG on a 20% level. They can start up a poultry or fish farm. Start small! Marketing is never an issue. The supply is still very low to the demand even at just a 20% demand.

We can become a major supplier of farm products to different nations. That is one of our known values in Africa. Instead of setting ourselves up in the entrepreneurial corner and become employers of labour, most Nigerians go seeking white and watery collar jobs in fields that may eventually bury their formal educational knowledge, working in a field that has nothing in common with their discipline. That is why you see Biochemistry, Geology or Yoruba graduates working in the banking sector while Accountancy or Business Admin. graduates working in different companies and organisations doing something different. Engineering graduates engineer nothing. You may want to say it's because there is no one to help them but I will it doesn't work that way. The most decorated Nigerian business tycoon Aliko Dangote Dantata started from somewhere. You can always start from where you are with what you have around. Start small; then you'll grow big. Majority want to start big and grow bigger. It doesn't work that way. Start small! That theory in your head, start a small practical with it. Just try it even if it is for the sake of trying; even if it is for the fun of it and you are one step into greatness.
