Offering time is blessing time

22 August 2014, 14:53 Onyeji Dominic

Things like drama and comedy are not bad at all. I love them, and I am very good in acting because nature has me as a dead pan in jungle. I can crack jokes and equally make fun but I am not a joker in anyway. I like to make people happy. The gems, traits or Supernatural qualities are embedded for me to really entertain the public but what I did two days ago was not funny because it did not put any smile on any face under the Sun.

To cut the long story short, everybody knows that things are very bad in Nigeria. The ugly situation of things has been pushing everybody to tight corners. It has not been easy for the people in general. We see souls everywhere wriggling in crooked ways, and religion is also seen as one of the easiest way for fools to make it in jungle.

As a matter of reality, I traveled two days ago. It was a long journey from Lagos to Asaba, Nigeria. The garage was in a popular area known to Lagocians as "Ojota". It was around 12 noon when the bus left the garage.

I did not know that there was a "pseudo-preacher" in the bus. He greeted us in general, made a short prayer and started a long, boring sermon. The preaching did not make any sense to me, and I did not see any need for argument or opposition.

In fact, I did not have any intention to oppose the preacher. I saw him as a retarded mind who lacked good sense due to bad condition. His boring words did not get my interest until at a point when I heard him said, "Offering time is blessing time!" That was after he had finished his empty-headed preaching. "I am a prophet of the lord," he said. "The offering and tithes are required to move the work of the lord forward."

The act was not a joke at all, and it was not my first time to see preachers like this appealing or begging indirectly. We have them everywhere in Nigeria collecting offerings and tithes after preaching in buses and taxis.

So, I was not surprised when some of the passengers started responding to the appeal. The preacher brought out his offering bag and some of the passengers made miserable contributions turn by turn in the rolls. It started from front seat, and I was seated at the back. When it came to my turn, I looked straight into his benighted eyes and said:

"I am Dominichi, not Malachi in Bible. If you call me "Lord", you are not wrong. I am Dsage, an erudite seer from East - homeland of the Magi under the Sun. It means that there is no single difference between me and the Lord in jungle.

So, always remember to pay your tithes and offerings regularly and completely to me, your "real" Lord, not the lord in your retarded mind
