Overcoming your personal speed bumps

23 October 2013, 16:22 Okemakinde DGD

Abuja - With only a few short months to the end of 2013, I am already in a transit mode (maximising today and preparing for 2014) Along the year you have come across some road bumps, which make you bounce off track

This week, I'd like to shine more light on personal speed tracker, that can actually teach you a lot about life

And today, I'd like to share what happens when a team finishes last in a leg: they often have to complete a task no one else does, known as a "speed bump." It can slow them down – even get them eliminated.

I probably don't need to tell you that encountering "speed bumps" is also part of life's game. Often you can get sidetracked on achieving the goals you've established for yourself. But thankfully, there are ways around these obstacles.

Let's say you've gone after dream task, but they never come through to you despite all efforts

Don't take it personal, instead; come up with a new strategy

One of the best ways to overcome your own personal speed bump is to re-assess your goals and break them down to make them more achievable.

With landing those high-profile goals, take a step back and start with smaller-scale involvement, your goals here is to build up your portfolio and track record

Keep track of your dreams and goals through;

  • Social media channels
  • Talk about it
  • Support others in that direction, let someone feel your existence
  • Attend programs

Your next step could be writing and meeting targeted individuals giving information they'd find valuable

Keep building your skills, reputation and most of all confidence. Before you know it, you'll be in a much stronger position to attract the attention of your dream because you have everything it takes to be successful in your career!

Do have the best wonderful day ever!

Be a Blessing. Share with others.
