May I start by congratulating the new central govt. headed by president Muhamadu Buhari. This is supposedly a govt. that came on the platform of positive change which is also its mantra. But aside tackling endemic and systemic corruption which has held us sway, no meaningful socio-economic development of a greater number of Nigerians can be achieved without taking the following steps:
1.Re-orienting the value system of all citizens starting from the politicians at all levels; for people to know that a man's life does not necessarily consist of what he has,but the positive impacts he is able to make in other people's lives.
2.Rational re-distribution of the nation's resources amongst its citizens(considering the present economic realities) as there are people who earn much than they should and the majority of the workforce earning much less than they should have, for unjustifiable reasons. This would free up scarce resources for other economic development and empowerment for more of Nigerians.
3. The president and his cabinet, down to ward councillors should be ready to make personal sacrifices for the good of generality of Nigerians.
4. Ensuring accountability, transparency, by putting the right structures/institutions in place for checks and balances.
5. Diversifying the economy by practically going beyond petroleum. May God continue to bless Nigeria
