Police is your friend

09 February 2015, 12:09 Jibunor George Chuks.

We have been left on several occasions to wonder about this statement ''Police is your friend''. Can this actually be true or its just a saying? At times some slogans or logo defines the people in question. But this of our force I find funny and contradicting because people in question don't represent the logo. I don't have anything against them but if how they treat suspects and innocents is what they refer as ''Police is your friend'' then we should go back to drawing board and look into their activities and see what makes them to put people into believing in what is not true.

These men and women see the civilians as slaves. Where is it done that a suspect will receive a dirty slap even when he or she is trying to make a statement? And you wake up and say that these same people are your friends. Have witnessed on several occasions where civilians are being beaten black, red and blue by this same police men and women and yet all we hear is police is your friend. If that's how friends treats friends, that means there will be chaos in the land. Can we have a country where people are been respected. The suspects deserves a great right to be treated with respect. Even if they were proven to be guilty I think and believe they are still humans. Police force should respect and portray what they use as slogan. God bless our police force and Nigeria.
