Rape victim commits suicide

A 15 year old teenage girl and a junior student of community secondary school Isieke Ibeku who was simply identified as "Chiawolam"has in the early hours of Tuesday 30th June committed suicide in a bush close to their house at Iyienyi Ibeku Umuahia Abia State.

It was said that the girl was raped on Sunday by three men when she visited her sister who is married in a neighboring village (Okwoyi Ibeku).

According to a reliable source, the girl reported the incident to her mother who scolded her for leaving their house while she warned her not to do so. Her mother said that the raped case was reported to the police on monday and that they had also visited the hospital.

"It was not her fault that she was raped, though I scolded her for leaving the house when I warned her never to do so but, I've taken necessary steps to make sure that the culprits is brought to book; I can't understand why a little girl like that would take her own life that way" her mother said.

They held from Okoni Ohafia but sojourns in Umuahia
