The fertile black breast
That yielded the white fluid
Your grandpa, my grandpa
Your grandma, my grandma sucked
Before they die to live again
The nipples of the motherhood of black race
Was where they encircled to seek ease
Seek justice not with the barrel of gun
But with voice of one world
At her enchanting feet, they kneeled
Pray, sing and seek peace
For their generation and that of their kin's
Before they feast with the deceased
The world is in the forest of word
The word is in the belly of the world
They prayed for peace in one voice of one word
And never hit one another with the sword .....
One step ahead
The cord of existence was passed across to us
The same nipple of motherhood was given for us to suck
The word was given to us not the sword
But where did we go from there?
We departed within race
Of white and dark-skinned
As though the rain that pour
Does not on all fall
We did not always see eyes to eyes
To some, they are classes of the high
While others are left battered in an 'homeland'
To birth upon the left- over scars
We force the silence of the word
And cause the stabbing of the sword
Kill, steal and even destroy the generational bid
As though we live not under the same sky
And we are not save
Again! Under the blue sky
Neither nor on the black land
To rest and sleep
Only to count the days to weep.
I only hope when I die I can say I am black
And it's beautiful to be black...
