The health system's development can be traced back to the 18th century when the first documentation on health, made by Leo Africanus. This was followed by a progression in the healthcare system of the country with missionaries through the west and south, Sudanese through the north until the civil/Biafran disturbances which resulted in the backwardness of our progressing healthcare system. In Nigeria, traditional system of healthcare complements orthordox medicine and vice versa.

Government policies, corruption, insecurities, and lots of other factors have brought about the back-drop in the progress of our healthcare system. We should have been independent. Its been 53/54 years now for a country blessed with resources,and in its abundance we've failed to use them to solve our own problems. It's a good thing my president is trying to 'TRANSFORM NIGERIA' but what about our lingering problems? GEJ will only be building from the works of his predecessors-BUILDING ON A WEAK FOUNDATION!
