The oil and pains

07 January 2015, 11:45

Oil was discovered in Bomu in 1958 in commercial quantities after it was first struck in Oloibiri in Bayelsa State. Making Bomu one of the earliest and foremost contributors of Nigerian economic mainstay. As we are approaching 2015, I pray that our corrupt politicians open their eyes and ears so as to hear and see the pains the people are going through

Not withstanding the huge contribution of Bomu community to Nigerian economy, the land have nothing to show in exchange of loyalty. Ogonis agitated and sent a bill of rights to the Nigerian government in 1990, return genocide for Ogoni civil demands.

The wounds of turbulent time is still fresh even hitherto. Nothing has been done to salvage yearnings of Ogoni people.

Very patriotic son of the land have written articles in the Nigerian national dailies and even on social media to bring to the attention of the Nigerian government prominent among whom are myself Monday Paul Deede and Bethel Tanifo.

Yet, it fell on deaf ears. It is therefore my passionate appeal that the government of the land should look into the demands Bomu Gokana who by her endowment the second runner up of geotechnical exploitation.
