After the country's independence in 1960, we lived in peace, everyone as one.
We knew that there is no gain in war and that an eye for an eye means both parties will be left with one eye each or become total blind.
The country has seen so many celebrations like the festive periods of Christians, Muslims and pagans whereby youth and children enjoy playing bangers.
People enjoyed this without any fear in the neighbourhood or streets because they knew that this was our celebration time whereby we show love to one another.
Neighbours gave food to neighbours irrespective of religious differences and this was so much fun. There was always love in the air whenever there were feasts to celebrate.
No one was conscious of where he or she was going because everywhere was safe and at peace.
This was until politics took over the whole country and everyone wants to get into power by do, kill or die affair.
Those working as bank managers steal from their banks at any given opportunity.
Robbery increased and ritual killings as wel. All sorts of evil emerged from all corners which has led to fear in the country.
Minds are not at peace anymore because we have used our own hands to kill the God-given peace that existed among us before.
Small sounds from car engine or bikes now cause people to react in fear, people take cover thinking what they heard might have been an explosion or gunshot.
Where are we heading to? What happened to the sweet atmosphere we enjoyed before? Can we still have peace again in this country? Can we still live without fear? Eat and drink without fear? Watch ball in crowds?
Go to church, mosque, celebration venues with our cars parked close to us? Worship God without security personnel moving up and down armed with guns? We are hoping things will return to normal because this country is no longer normal.
