We were made to sit in the rain

02 June 2015, 11:02

Just two days to the passing out of corpers from the NYSC Orientation Camp in Wannune Tarka LGA, Benue State, we were made to sit outside in the storm as the heavy winds blew sand on our bodies.

We were forced out of our hostels with sticks by military men who claimed to be acting on orders. We thought it was "fire alert" but we later knew that it was an action taken to find a stolen phone belonging to Charles, who is said to be the son of a minister and some people also claim that he is not a corper but an undercover SSS agent.

There have been cases of military oppression in our camp but this was the straw that broke the camel's back. We the corpers in C1 Hostel in tge Wannune camp were made to sit outside our hostel in the storm after we were searched thoroughly and in the process, called criminals. We were made to sit among snakes and scorpions from 12:10am to 2:40am.

The soldiers themselves killed a snake right where we were asked to sit. We were treated like criminals all in the name of serving our nation and we want justice.
