Where are the Nation Builders (Part 4)

08 November 2012, 10:41

This will be the concluding part on this series of my message to patriotic friends and to those who haven’t really had an insight as to why it is our responsibility to take up the challenge on our very hands. I am reiterating that there isn’t a better time to Nation building than now.

To serve with heart and might: I must say that most of us pay lip service to this country, little wonder we seem to be crawling, that is if we are even moving from a spot anyway. Service to Nigeria isn’t just a thing of mouth; our action of ensuring that we speak out and expose dubious acts, refusal to take bribe or any means of gratification in carrying out our duties, active participation in government, paying out tax, volunteering in projects which will affect humanity are just the few of what it takes to actively serve our Nation. When we consciously take it upon ourselves to serve truthfully with our hearts, thinking of what we can give to Nigeria rather than what it can give to us, then we are not only on the path of recovery but also to better Nigeria.

One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity: One Nation....One Nigeria says it all....Together we can make it happen! The power of unity will take us far beyond where we can envisage. The power in unity is a driving force and major propeller of greatness which cannot be achieved unless we learn to live as ONE. This is when peace and tranquility will reign and each and everyone will look out for the common well being of his neighbour. This uniting force is what will ensure we become truly FREE from the shackles of sentiments and segregation which has held us bound. We will be truly free from those who have taken advantage of our disunity to either enrich themselves or exploit us.

My question to the Nation builders: How many of us bother to develop our leadership abilities in the little capacity within our means? Do we read books to broaden our horizon, watch documentaries we can learn from in that capacity? Do we attend seminars, listen to debates and get involved in constructive arguments in order to learn more and know how to either absorb or dissolve views positively without incurring the wrath of friends and enemies alike?

We must develop ourselves into becoming a leader the whole world wants to emulate. We must start thinking, acting and talking like a leader, we must get solid mentoring which will help refine our leadership abilities. Most importantly, we must possess the HEART of a leader.

I am really positive and looking forward to a time we all will live the lyrics of our national anthem for I know in doing so lies our path to true recovery and healing as a Nation.
