It is noteworthy to congratulate Your Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to have won the governorship election of steering the affairs of the state for four years.
As election has come and gone, it is important that the new government settles down quickly and vigorously pursue the governance of revamping the ailing economy of the state that has been ruthlessly vandalized. Also, deepen the democratic principle that will de-emphasize the inadequacies of the previous administration, the usual trends of the new government, rather focus on the needs of the people, which essentially was the reason for your landslide victory.
In a matter of necessity, aggressively support the rebuilding of the collapsed critical infrastructure, jobs creation, regular payment of the workers’ salaries, dialogue with the State NLC Chapter to call-off the strikes, and then, encourage investment opportunity to shape the economy of the state, instead of inundated and mulled innuendos of the past government contraptions in the state.
As postulated by Marin Luther King Jr, “The time is always right to do what is right.” Appropriate steps should be taking in understanding and recognizing the needs of the people, and then, aligns the government policy thrust of improving lives so as to justify the confidence reposed on the APC led government in the state.
Your government should look into the unresolved Ibaji and Aguleri crisis that has negatively affected some communities’ wellbeing in Ibaji LGA, and also, the recent Fulani crisis with some communities in Dekina LGA that was hitherto nightmare to the affected areas.
The government is therefore charged to properly harness and utilizes the manpower and material resources that abound in the state optimally to increase revenue generation base, encourage agricultural and mining sectors to support development, especially when the federal allocation to the state has fallen considerably.
Surprisingly, it was observed in the recent flag-off of the rice planting season at Kebbi State by President Muhammadu Buhari that Kogi State was clearly missing in the role calls of the states that produces rice in Nigeria; whereas Ibaji and Ofu LGAs are one of the known major producers of this arable food crop in the state. This situation seemed unfair to the people and a denial of the CBN 40million Naira rice agricultural soft loans to the concerned farmers.
Consequently, as the expectations of the people are high for the democratic dividends after long neglects, your administration should be able to bequeath a robust blueprint governance legacy that will be worthy of emulation by subsequent governments in future.
Congratulations and wishing Your Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello and his team a memorable tenure in office.
Long live Kogi State!
Long live Nigeria!!
