I remember that time

13 January 2016, 14:07

I remember that time, when our fore-fathers dignity and intergrity were tied to their grey hairs long years before those white men came- and bought their tomorrow with their twin and cowries.

I remember that time, when our mouths were padlocked, words caged in the wombs of thoughts leaving us to lean solemly on pillars of torn memories.

I remember that time, when the song that surrounds the atmosphere as we were handed over into the hands exile to serve their deserted lands where our fingers served as cutlass, hoes and rake to which we tilled, planted seeds for their exploits.

I remember that time, those promises of a better future were thrown into the sea of deceit right before they bought tomorrow from us yesterday.

I remember that time, we shed tears not of torment but tears for our posterity, who we sold to them into bondage, of how they will fight through to gain back their sold freedom.

I remember that they trampled on us as we stretch to soar high. I remember them all their deeds but never can we get them back rather we live with destinies scribbled.

I remember that time but soon we things will work out.
