Offa -The Adesiyun-Olafimihan Foundation
in Offa, Kwara, on Friday awarded scholarship worth N1 million to 25
students in secondary and tertiary institutions.
The scholarship award, which is the 11th edition, was organised to mark the posthumous birthday of the foundation’s founder, Felicia Adesiyun.
Felicia Bello, the Chairperson of the foundation, described the
award as laudable, saying that many of the beneficiaries were now
occupying positions of trust across the country.
"There is no gainsaying the fact that this award has lived up to its
expectation and we commend the founder for initiating the bursary
"Many of the beneficiaries of the award, since its inception 10
years ago, have graduated from their various institutions and are now in
positions of trust across the country,” she said.
Bello urged the recipients to make judicious use of the money, while functioning as good ambassadors of the foundation.
"This is the only way to achieve the objective for which the scheme was established,” she said.
Veronica Olafimihan, a member of the foundation’s Board of
Trustees, also urged the recipients to eschew violence and other
anti-social vices so as to enable them to excel in their academic
