101 pro-Biafrans arraigned as Buhari meets South-East politicians

01 June 2016, 06:46

Abuja - Scores of pro-Biafra protesters were arrested in Enugu and Ebonyi on Tuesday following clashes between security operatives and activitsis over the weekend.

According to a Punch report, members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) were arraigned before a court on Monday after being accused of belonging to an "illegal society".

The suspects are said to have pleaded not guilty to the charges, following which they were granted bail.

Among those arrested were five pastors, each reported to have been clutching bibles while stating their cases in court.
