Abuja - The Kano Sharia Guard has arrested 13 people allegedly involved in homosexuality and lesbianism.
Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Guard, Malam Nabahani Usman said the 11 men and two women were arrested by during a multiple raid.
He said they were arrested in locations suspected to be their joint.
He said some of the suspects were arrested while holding a party in a guest house at Yankaba area in Nassarawa local government area.
Usman said the suspects would be interrogated before appearing before a Sharia court.
Homosexual sex is illegal under Sharia law, though the prescribed penalties differ from one school of jurisprudence to another.
In some countries like Nigeria, the law imposes the death penalty for acts perceived as sodomy and homosexual activities.
