Asaba – Suspected illegal oil activities led to the arrest of 16 persons while six vehicles were impounded.
Obiageli Obiajulu, commandant for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba that the suspects and vehicles were rounded up between January and April 2013.
Obiajulu said the impounded vehicles contained a total of 40,550 litres of petroleum products.
The vehicles and suspects were apprehended at various places during this period.
She said four of the six vehicles were impounded in February, just as 10 of the 16 suspects were also arrested in February.
She said the processes of prosecution had already begun in all the cases involved.
