17 Kaduna legislators on retreat in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa -Seventeen members of the  Kaduna State House of Assembly have arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on a weeklong retreat, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The legislators, led by the Deputy Speaker, Dogara Mato, make up the first batch of the 34 members of the state House of Assembly to arrive in Ethiopia for the retreat.

The programme, which is being coordinated by Kaduna-based Express Lead Consult, has "State Legislations and the Challenges of Insecurity in Nigeria," as its theme.

The consultant’s Malam Ibrahim Othman told NAN that the Speaker, Mu'azu Gangara would lead the second batch.

Othman said some of the issues to be discussed during the retreat include unemployment, insecurity, poverty, justice and equity.

"We have identified certain measures that could address these challenges if well implemented``, Othman further stated.

The legislators are also expected to tour the African Union Commission (AUC) Headquarters and the Nigerian Embassy in Ethiopia.

NAN reports that Nigeria’s Ambassador in Ethiopia, Lolo Bulus hails from Kaduna State.
