18 burnt to death in Bauchi auto crash

Bauchi - 18 were burnt to death in a fatal motor accident along Bauchi-Jos Road.

The Bauchi State police command's spokesperson, DSP Baba Mohammed, stated that the accident involving a DAF Truck with registration number XC 675 BAU and an 18 seater Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BAU 148 XR occurred on Sunday at Buzaye village in Bauchi State.

He said that the Truck heading towards Jos had a head on collision with the loaded 18 seater bus coming from Abuja which resulted in a fire outbreak.

Police patrol team attached to GRA Division and men of fire service from Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) rushed to the scene to put out the fire and rushed the victims to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi for medical attention, he said.

18 victims were certified dead adding that 17 of them were burnt beyond recognition and all the corpses have been deposited at the Motuary for postmortem examinations.
